Scholarship Program Sends Students to College

Scholarship Program

In 2014, White Bluff Chapel celebrated its 10th year of awarding college scholarships to local deserving graduating high school seniors. In observance of that auspicious accomplishment, Dale Thompson has sponsored the production of a documentary film.

“Give a man a fish and he has food for one meal.  Teach a man to fish and he has food for a lifetime.” Likewise with a student – Give a young person an education and he/she has opportunities for a successful and fulfilling life.  By awarding financial assistance to students, the scholarship committee has endeavored to enable qualified area students to seek higher education or vocational training beyond high school graduation.

Each recipient is also appointed a mentor from the Chapel who provides guidance, counsel and moral support as long as the student receives Chapel funding for the pursuit of his/her educational goals.  Each year when the scholarships are awarded, Chapel members have the opportunity to volunteer as mentors.

Financial support for the scholarship program comes through designated giving.  What a wonderful way to honor a friend or special teacher!
